Camellia japonica 'Empress Variegata'

Camellia japonica (Empress Variegated Camellia)

Empress Variegated Camellia

A variegated sport of the older Japanese cultivar 'Akashigata'. Particularly valuable in cooler climates as it has an exceptional cold resistance. It has a large semi-double flower of deep pink, marbled white. Though undoubtedly a very old cultivar in Japan, it does not seem to have been recorded in the US before 1935. AKA - O-niji, Lady Clare Vareigated, Mrs HL Windbigler, Rainbow, Taiyo Nishiki.
